I have mentioned this previously. Your lawyer expects certain things from you too. It’s a two-way street here in Oklahoma.
MAKE GOOD ON YOUR PROMISES
Did you promise something early on? Did you make several promises to your lawyer during the process? You need to make good on all of these promises. If you expect your lawyer to deliver his/her promises, you have to handle your own affairs properly.
WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED
Your lawyer needs to know what exactly happened, even if it kind of paints you in a bad light. Write down everything to the best of your knowledge. There should be nothing left out. Your lawyer will not too kindly on a client that omits certain things.
YOUR LAWYER IS NOT YOUR FRIEND
This is probably one of the more bigger issues that clients have trouble with. Your lawyer expects you to be available, letting him know when you aren’t. You are expected to pay your bills and do your own homework.
Your lawyer is not your friend. He/she is not there to be your new best girlfriend. He/she is there to a do a job, nothing more. If this is what you are expecting, maybe you need to re-examine what your needs are.
